Even the times she grabs Ben and plants one on him — even the time she kisses Tom and it stops him right in his tracks — she manages to find exactly the perfect balance between sexy intensity and innocent pleasure in the meeting of lips.

In fact, especially in that episode where Ron discovers she’s dating Ben because he overhears their sexy lady-politician role-playing, it’s clear that Leslie considers sex a fun game that two people play together. Dating terrifies her — she’s awful at it in season one, though she seems to relax after that, especially in her relationship with Dave — but sex is something she can just totally have fun with and get pleasantly silly over. The words she uses about making out and sex: “awesome,” and “excellent.”

I think it’s a completely fascinating attitude for a female character on tv, and I think it’s something of a breakthrough.
