DMP has been asked by Apple to remove their BL/yaoi titles from their iPad app, because of “mature scenes in some of the books.” Fuck you, Apple. Not only is your nannying seriously pathetic and old, but this smacks of homophobia. (And this isn’t the first time.) After all, yaoi is characterized by romantic and/OR sexual relationships between men.* If you aren’t asking for particular titles whose content you deem “too mature” to be removed, then you are just telling DMP to remove all of their gay male manga.
I realize this probably just betrays an ignorance about the genre on Apple’s part (I understand Apple is not gay-unfriendly in general) and that Apple has every “right” to do whatever they want with their products, but we consumers have every right to be pissed off that some corporate entity is making it more difficult for us to get at (perfectly legal) the content we want.
My Airport Express is dead; I think I’ll vote with my wallet and buy a non-Apple wireless router to replace it. Don’t force me to buy a non-Mac computer when my iMac needs to be replaced, Apple!
*I’m not getting into the somewhat arbitrary yaoi/shounen-ai distinction since it’s not consistently followed.
