“You’d think the very thought of a romance writer would bring a smile to people’s...”
– Remembrance (Jude Deveraux) I cannot begin to tell you how much I agree with this. It infuriates me that there is a general conception that women are so moronic and infantile that they cannot separate fiction from reality, and that the reading of romance will somehow create the expectation that a...

turnabout: First off, what is it like being naked on stage? I think everybody in the ensemble would agree that baby wipes are essential. This isn’t my first time being naked on stage, but being naked in Untitled Feminist Show feels different. I have no props or words to draw attention away from the loadedness of my junk while I’m trying to be myself, which is a pretty masculine. So it’s...

The Most Badass Excerpt From Barney Frank's...
Interviewer: You’ve long argued for the decriminalization of marijuana. Do you smoke weed?
Barney Frank: No.
Interviewer: Why not?
Barney Frank: Why do you ask a question, then act surprised when I give an answer? Do you think I lie to people?
Interviewer: I thought you might explain why you support decriminalizing it but don’t smoke it.
Barney Frank: Do you think I’ve ever had an abortion?

dailyreenactor: Marc and I got 19 out of 20 with the two of us working together.  We had a bit of an advantage because we know what to look for to identify reenactors.  The clues are subtle, but they’re there.  Tell me how you did! 15/20! And awesome photos.

Did a mock-up of my combination today! This project has taught me how to sew a dart. Now I need to hit the notions and trim stores for buttons and lace. (Also, I broke down and bought a ruffler and invisible zipper foot. These will be a great help in making 1. petticoats, and 2. skirts and dresses for non-costume wear.)

shadyoaks replied to your post: I keep looking at pretty dresses and my conclusion… I’m pretty sure designers just aren’t giving a shit about functionality and beauty together. or they’re only designing for women with A-cups which makes zero goddamn sense You are undoubtably correct. I keep looking at pretty dresses and my conclusion these days is always: “But I can’t get that because I need to be able to wear a bra with it!” wtf, clothing designers. Why is it so difficult to create a cute dress that also allows for bosom support (preferably racerback)?

I feel like an entitled bitch for complaining about the laundromat since I usually drop off my laundry rather than doing it myself, but…they didn’t wash the one thing I specifically brought in to be washed! Whyyyy…. (In my defense, I would really, really prefer to do my own laundry. I just can’t stand dealing with it in addition to my 6th-floor walk-up.)

I keep trying to read Loretta Chase’s new book, Captives of the Night, but I’m a third of the way through and I still don’t care. About anything—plot, characters, setting, anything. Does it get better? (Also, the ebook version doesn’t clearly show scene/POV changes, which is super irritating.)

For my next cross stitch project, I really want to do something related to one of my favorite books. But nothing really lends itself to needlework…. Would also like to do some gay porn embroidery, like this one from Radical Cross Stitch (awesome, right?). But again, it’s surprisingly difficult to find good source material to adapt! Things I Wish Reenactors Would Stop/Start Doing →
dailyreenactor: Because ranting is healthy. These are great. Many of these are reasons I don’t consider myself a “reenactor,” though I love historic dress, am learning historic dance, and would adore the chance to use those in events more often. Also, LOL at the after-hours partying! That definitely came as a disappointment at Pennsic*—the “crazy parties”...

I was reading a so-so ebook and the writing was not too bad although there were more than a few typos. Fortunately, they were mostly the kinds of typos anyone can make—they seemed to just show that the publisher didn’t proofread the thing, not that the author had a tenuous grasp on the English language. But then I came to the one that tipped the scales from slightly annoyed tolerance...

I must say, one of the positive things about reading ebooks on my iPod Touch is that I can prop it up on my desk—since it looks like an iPhone and people tend to keep their cell phones on their desks—and surreptitiously read gay erotica while at work. Not that I’d ever do that of course. (In unrelated news, I finished a really good one today about avian shapeshifters. It was a...
